Inhabited by a married couple who spend much of their time at home with their two young children, this house is designed to instill a sense of gratitude in its residents. The design acknowledges that daily routines can often lead to stress and depression. Thus, the “JOY OF BEING” concept is intended to manifest gratitude—gratitude felt upon waking up, breathing in fresh air, and experiencing the warmth of the sun. Keywords like “see the dawn”, “breathe the air”; and “warmth of nature”; serve as the foundational concepts for this home’s design.

The layout is thoughtfully planned to accommodate the activities of the residents. Semi-public and service areas are positioned at the front, transitioning smoothly into the semi-private and private areas. This arrangement enhances the intimacy of the family room, which is reserved for family members and close friends, making it the central hub of the home.

The color palette used in this home represents the desired ambiance: warm grey as a neutral base, terracotta and mustard as warm tones, and blue as a cool tone. These six colors are carefully selected to create harmony within the spaces. The architectural form of this house adopts curves, which are applied in the family room as a solution to limited space. Curves are also incorporated into the furniture and other decorative elements to achieve balance. The clean lines, a hallmark of contemporary furniture, are often paired with metal materials, creating a bold and luxurious impression. The prominent use of rattan is a distinctive feature of this home, symbolizing a sense of openness and breathability.
