The residential house was made for 4 people, which includes both parents, a university student son, and a high school daughter. The home concept circulates in simplicity to make it look spacious and modern in a small plot. Because of its simple looks, I had to elevate a different factor to the design to not make it dull, which is to bring colors such as green, brown and blue to the design. In the end, I decided to go with mid-century modern as a theme since it has interesting shapes and colors to work with without making it look too abstract just like Bauhaus.

Most of the colors I have selected come in a warm earthy tone with different textures to give it some variety. Additionally, I put a bunch of primary colors to spice things up. For example, different colors and textures are used in selecting the cushions and carpets. Furthermore, I picked many different tiles, flooring and natural rocks to give it diversity. Upon inspection, the clients’ old house seems to fit a lot of natural lighting, so I decided to incorporate many large windows around the house. When it comes to the clients’ needs and daily routine, I made sure to include a designated piano space for the mother and daughter to enjoy during their leisure time. There is also a study room for both the father and son since they are both a designer and design student.
